Well my daughter did not start out with great trunk strength, but the fact that we didnt put sides on the tryke just made her work harder to sit correctly, and because of it her trunk strength improved a lot. If it is a huge concern for you take a catalog picture of what you want down to a machine shop or welder and have them rig something for you at much less expense. Good luck!
