Horseback riding
Jeanne Malmberg (malmberg@crl.nmsu.edu)
I am a 32-year-old with ataxic cp. I had horseback riding lessions at a center for the handicapped when I was a child. I don't know if it helped physically, but it was GREAT FUN! And it improved my self-image and my image with other kids (People still are surprised when I talk about riding horses - it's not something they think "fits" with the idea of cp). For those reasons alone I would say that as long as appropriate safety measures are taken, GO FOR IT! Feel free to email me personally if you have questions.
