Health Promotion Resource Guide for People with Disabilities
The North Carolina Office on Disability and Health and the Massachusetts Office on Health and Disability have jointly developed The Health Promotion Resource Guide: Promoting the Health and Wellness of People with Disabilities.
This 94-page manual is divided into two parts: (1) Creating Inclusive Health Promotion Services, and (2) Health Promotion and Disability. The first part provides helpful contacts for accessibility, universal design, and communication; the second part provides contacts on a host of health promotion and disability topics, ranging from physical activity and nutrition, to mental health and aging. The physical activity section, for example, contains information on exercises for specific disabilities, exercise and fitness programs, general physical activity, adapted sports and recreation, and therapeutic recreation. All contacts include a description of the organization, as well as necessary contact information.
